The Tour de Cluck Bicycle Chicken Coop Crawl returns to Davis on May 25th, 2013. This year, the wildly popular Tour de Cluck Silent Auction and Art Exhibit will feature even more fowl and feather based art than ever before! This poultry-inspired pageant of artistic wares will showcase art and services inspired by the two beloved aspects of Davis life and the central themes of Tour de Cluck – backyard chickens and bicycles. This fourth annual homage to our fine-feathered friends and pedal-powered transportation will take place in a festive white tent on the Central Park Green adjacent to the Davis Farmers Market, a Tour de Cluck partner. The Tour De Cluck has become one of the biggest annual community events in Davis. It’s not only good crowing fun, but it is also supports Davis’ worthy organizations. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Davis Art Center, a multi-disciplinary arts organization.
Event organizers are eager to fill the Tour de Cluck Silent Auction tent with interesting art items to satisfy even the most plucky bidders. Artists of all kinds are invited to submit work in a variety of media created in both two and three-dimensions. All work must incorporate the selected theme – Growing, Crowing and Cycling Things however subtly or boldly. Each item must be original.
In order to enhance the coherence of the exhibit and to maximize the available space, standard submissions are limited to a maximum of 24” in any dimension. A limited number of larger pieces will be accepted. Further information can be found at the Tour de Cluck website at www.tourdecluck.org.
The deadline for completion of the silent auction Intention to Submit Form is April 1st, 2013. The Art Submission Form is due April 26th. Both forms are brief and can be completed online. The actual artwork must be delivered to the auction team by May 6th.
Proceeds from the Silent Auction will support the Davis Art Center’s MAKE ART HAPPEN campaign, raising money to ensure that every person who walks through the Art Center doors, literally and virtually, can have a creative experience. Now that’s something to crow about!
